My top three Sandals beaches, and the resort I would not choose if the beach is your number-one priority.
If you ask me what the most important thing is when choosing a Caribbean resort, my answer is simple:
Know what you want the beach to feel like.
Because “best beach” doesn't mean the same thing to every couple.
Some couples want long stretches of powder-soft sand.
Others want calm turquoise water.
Some want incredible sunsets.
Others care about snorkeling, swimming or water sports.
After comparing Sandals destinations and listening to what experienced travelers consistently say, these are the three beaches I would put at the top of the list.
If the beach is the reason you're booking a Caribbean vacation, Sandals Negril is one of the first resorts I would show you.
The resort sits directly on Jamaica's famous Seven Mile Beach, giving you something that is difficult to replicate:
a beach that actually feels like part of the destination.
You aren't looking at a tiny resort cove.
You're connected to one of Jamaica's most famous stretches of coastline.
The beach is ideal for couples who want to walk, swim, relax, watch sunsets and spend a significant part of their vacation near the ocean.
Sandals itself highlights Negril's location on Seven Mile Beach and its sunset views.
The biggest advantage is the overall beach experience.
You can wake up, walk toward the water, spend hours by the Caribbean and then watch the sunset without feeling like you've spent the entire day in one small resort area.
If your honeymoon vision is:
“coffee, beach, swimming, sunset, dinner, repeat,”
Negril deserves serious consideration.
For a more traditional Caribbean postcard experience, Sandals Grande Antigua is one of my favorites to compare.
The resort sits on Dickenson Bay, and Sandals itself currently lists the beach among its best beach experiences.
The combination of soft sand, turquoise water and a wide beach makes Antigua particularly attractive for couples who want the beach to be a major part of the vacation.
It also tends to appeal to couples who want a more classic Caribbean atmosphere rather than an ultra-modern resort environment.
The beach has space.
That's important.
Some beautiful resort beaches feel beautiful but small.
Grande Antigua gives you more of that classic Caribbean shoreline experience.

South Coast is different.
If Negril is about being connected to a famous Caribbean beach and Antigua is about classic Caribbean beauty, South Coast is about escape.
The resort sits in a more secluded setting, and its beach stretches for approximately two miles.
That creates a very different feeling.
You're not necessarily going there because you want the busiest beach scene.
You're going because you want to look around and feel like you've gotten away.
South Coast also combines that setting with iconic overwater accommodations.
This is where I want to be honest.
Sandals Royal Plantation would not be my first recommendation for a couple whose number-one priority is having the best beach.
That's not because Royal Plantation isn't special.
It's because the resort's strength is elsewhere.
Royal Plantation is intimate, personal and butler-focused. Sandals describes it as a secluded property with highly personalized service.
But even experienced Sandals travelers often point out that the beach is not the resort's biggest selling point.
So if someone tells me:
“I don't care about nightlife. I don't care about having a huge resort. I just want the most beautiful beach possible.”
I'm sending them somewhere else.
Before booking Sandals, tell me what you mean by “best beach.”
Do you mean:
Those answers can produce completely different recommendations.
My personal starting shortlist would be Negril, Grande Antigua and South Coast.
But the winner depends on the type of beach vacation you're imagining.
See rates and availability for your dates at the resort that matches it. The rate is the same one you would get booking direct.
It depends on what you mean by best. As a starting shortlist: Sandals Negril, on Seven Mile Beach, for the overall beach experience; Sandals Grande Antigua, on Dickenson Bay, for a classic Caribbean beach; and Sandals South Coast, with about two miles of beach, for seclusion.
Sandals South Coast in Jamaica: a secluded setting, a beach of about two miles and overwater accommodations. It is closed for its rebuild and reopens on November 18, 2026.
Not if the beach is your number-one priority. Royal Plantation is intimate and butler-focused, and even experienced Sandals travelers point out that the beach is not its biggest selling point.
