Four resorts have them. As of August 2026, only two are open — and that changes the answer.
Four: Sandals Grande St. Lucian, Sandals Saint Vincent, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast. The last two are closed for rebuilding, so only Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent can be booked for travel before late 2026.
| Resort | Island | Status | What is distinctive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grande St. Lucian | Saint Lucia | Open | The original Sandals overwater bungalows — nine of them, with glass floor panels, overwater hammocks and soaking tubs. |
| Saint Vincent | Saint Vincent | Open | Two-story overwater villas, a Sandals first. Glass floors, outdoor tubs, suspended daybeds. |
| Royal Caribbean | Jamaica | Closed — reopens 18 Dec 2026 | Jamaica’s original overwater bungalows, closed for the $200 million rebuild. |
| South Coast | Jamaica | Closed — reopens 18 Nov 2026 | Overwater bungalows on a two-mile private beach. Returning with a new signature pool and reworked suites. |
They carry the largest premium in the entire Sandals portfolio, and the honest answer is that they are a splurge rather than a value play. What you are buying is the room itself, not a better resort experience.
Everything else at the resort — every restaurant, every bar, every watersport — is identical for a guest in the cheapest room. The bungalow buys you privacy, the water directly beneath you, and the photographs.
For a milestone trip that is often exactly the right call. For a first Sandals holiday, the same money usually buys more actual holiday: a longer stay, or a butler suite plus several days extra. See how the room tiers compare.
Yes. Every overwater accommodation at Sandals is Butler Elite, which also means 24-hour room service and in-suite check-in.
That is part of why the price sits where it does: you are not comparing a bungalow to a standard room, you are comparing it to the top service tier plus the location premium.
Further than you think. There are only a handful of these rooms per resort — nine at Grande St. Lucian — and holiday periods sell out first.
With two of the four resorts closed until November and December 2026, the two that are open are absorbing all of the current demand. If your dates are fixed and an overwater villa is non-negotiable, that combination is worth acting on early.
There are very few of these rooms and two resorts are offline. Live availability is the only thing worth trusting here.
